This painting depicts the valiant Valkyrie, the female otter ambassador at Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo. I have watched this fierce mother raise many pups over the years; teaching them to swim and play. Photographing otters is one of the most difficult tasks in the field! When she engages your eyes through the glass something magical happens. Spreading joy is what this species is best at!
