These three gray wolf sisters were born April 27, 2010. They came to Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo in October of that year along with their other sister, Doba. Energetic and curious, they loved getting new enrichment and especially enjoyed the smell of coffee grounds. Kaya (far left) was the alpha of the pack, playing the role of peacemaker and keeping a close eye on her sisters and their surroundings. I took this photo of them in their glory days. Shila, the middle wolf and the  last of the 4 passed away in early 2025.

This painting is especially dear to me as it represents myself with my 2 sisters. we were raised to be strong, independent women who share a insurmountable bond, standing together side by side throughout life
