The model for this painting is the adorably fluffy orphan brown bear Juniper, rescued from Alaska and now residing at Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. I photographed her last summer when she was still a little puff ball and she had my heart instantly! Several months after settling in she became best friends with Fern, another orphaned bear who arrived from Montana. Let me tell you….watching these two tumble and play together is enough to make your heart burst wide open!
